[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A full-scale investigation will be conducted on medical institutions suspected of illegal distribution and use of drugs such as propofol.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will conduct a planned inspection of medical institutions suspected of illegally handling medical drugs in order to quickly and strictly respond to the illegal distribution and use of medical drugs, such as propofol, recently reported by the media.

The TF’, the Drug Abuse Monitoring Group, analyzed big data on drug handling in the integrated drug management system and selected 20 medical institutions that reported no remaining disposal after using ▲propofol, a medical institution that purchased medical drugs but did not report on handling such as purchase or administration at all.

The watchdog TF plans to take administrative measures and other measures against medical institutions that have finally been confirmed to have violated the law on drug management through the inspection.

An official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said, "The 20 locations selected suspected medical institutions through prior inspection and reporting by the monitoring team."
