[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] On the 10th, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced a voluntary recall of 607,502 vehicles across 10 models produced or imported by Hyundai Motor, Kia, GM Asia Pacific, and Korea GM due to manufacturing defects.

Among the affected vehicles are 312,744 units of Hyundai's Sonata and another model, as well as 285,327 units of Kia's Forte and three other models. These vehicles are being recalled due to a design flaw in the airbag control system, which could prevent the airbags from deploying. The recall will begin on the 11th.

Additionally, 8,592 units of Kia's EV9 are being recalled due to an electronic brake software error that may cause the remote parking control function to malfunction. Kia has already started addressing this issue as of the 7th.

For GM vehicles, 839 units across three models, including the Escalade, are being recalled due to an electronic brake software issue where the warning light may not activate when brake fluid levels are low. The recall for these vehicles began on the 8th.

Consumers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the Korean Automobile Recall Center's website (car.go.kr).
