[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] North Korea has been confirmed to have violated military agreements approximately 450 times in just the first half of this year.

Defense Minister Suh Wonsik attended a parliamentary interpellation session on July 2nd, addressing matters related to politics, diplomacy, unification, and security. He stated that North Korea's cumulative violations of agreements amounted to over 4,050 cases by early last month.

Minister Suh also noted that about a year after the military agreements were signed, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un directly ordered the shelling of Changrin Island, an action that constituted "direct provocations" occurring approximately 20 times.

Despite agreements to establish maritime buffer zones and cease firing, North Korea has engaged in 'significant violations' such as maritime firings just a year after the agreements were made, amounting to dozens of violations.

Minister Suh emphasized that North Korea violated explicit clauses, including the prohibition of opening fire, stating, "Until June 4th, it has been estimated that they violated the agreements around 4,050 times in total."

Previously, military authorities had recorded over 3,600 violations by North Korea at the end of last year, indicating that North Korea has committed at least 450 violations in the first half of this year alone.
