[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Korea Civilian Pilots Association issued a statement condemning the business combination between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines on the 12th.

The association said, "We insisted on the birth of the global top 10 airlines, but in reality, it became a half merger due to the unreasonable solution of handing over their transportation rights overseas, selling the freight business and transferring aircraft and pilots to other airlines."

They pointed out that it is "virtually an air decomposition process" over Asiana Airlines' return of 49 slots to China and the sale of its cargo business, which accounts for about 55% of Asiana Airlines' sales.

Regarding the corrective action that Korean Air will transfer not only aircraft but also pilots to T'way Airlines (091810), he then said, "The pilots of the model are very anxious about the possibility of their company being changed by others."

The Korea Civilian Pilots Association was established in 1999 and is the largest pilot organization in Korea with 4,800 pilots from 13 domestic airlines.
