Kakao Games' operating profit fell 67% due to sluggishness of 'Odin'

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kakao Games recorded consolidated sales of 271.1 billion won and operating profit of 26.5 billion won in the second quarter of this year. Sales and operating profit fell 20% and 67%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

According to Kakao Games on the 2nd, mobile games recorded 171.9 billion won in sales in the second quarter, down 19% from a year earlier. PC online games also recorded sales of 11.9 billion won, down 20% from the same period last year.

Sales of other (non-game sectors), including golf, sports, leisure and telecommunications businesses, fell 21 percent on-year to 87.3 billion won.

Starting in the second half of the year, Kakao Games aims to speed up the establishment of a global pipeline by introducing new well-made and live games around the world that encompass various platforms and genres.
