[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] LG Electronics will introduce 'LG Electric Vehicle Charger' as early as next month.
LG Electronics, which has been preparing to enter the market by acquiring a series of electric vehicle charging companies since last year, is starting its business in earnest. LG Group is a strategy for major affiliates including LG Electronics to provide all services from charger manufacturing to charging solutions and platforms.
According to the industry on the 22nd, LG Electronics is currently preparing to mass-produce electric vehicle chargers at LG Digital Park in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and is weighing the timing of its launch. The smartphone production line used by the former mobile business headquarters has been changed to the charger production line.
LG Electronics is hiring more people to take charge of charging electric vehicles. At the end of last year, the EV Charging Business Division, which was newly established within the BS Business Headquarters, is recruiting R&D personnel for electric vehicle charging business until the 26th. The newly hired staff will be responsible for designing and developing electric vehicle charger circuits and developing charger devices.
LG Electronics entered the electric car charging business in earnest last year when it acquired Apple Mango, an electric car charger maker. Founded in 2019, Apple Mango is a company with slow and fast charger source technology.
LG Electronics acquired a 60% stake and GS Energy and GS Neotech acquired a 34% and 6% stake, respectively. LG Electronics also acquired the Spilt EV charging division through its subsidiary Apple Mango in December last year.
LG Uplus also acquired some of LG HelloVision's electric vehicle charging business organizations in January.
