Government to Discuss Compensation Plan for Travel Product Consumer Losses with TMON and WEMAKEPRICE

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] On August 27, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Fair Trade Commission, and the Financial Services Commission announced a joint industry meeting to address consumer losses related to travel products from TMON and WEMAKEPRICE.


The meeting will include industry representatives from travel agencies, credit card companies, and payment gateway providers, as well as officials from the Financial Supervisory Service and the Korea Consumer Agency.

During the meeting, the government plans to gather opinions from travel agencies, credit card companies, and payment gateway providers on how to share the burden of consumer losses and request cooperation from the industry to expedite the relief for affected consumers.

Additionally, the government will urge the Korea Consumer Agency to accelerate the group dispute resolution process for travel products.
