[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Energy, a key energy subsidiary of Hanwha Group, is making a significant entry into the AI data center business in the United States.

According to Maeil Business on the 14th, Hanwha Energy plans to build a massive AI data center with a capacity of 200 MW (megawatts) in the northwestern region of Texas, capable of operating hundreds of thousands of servers. The investment is estimated to be 2 trillion KRW. After securing the necessary power grid infrastructure and water supply, the construction of the data center is set to begin next year.

Currently, Hanwha Energy is engaged in the power trading business in Texas, operating a 2 GW (gigawatt) solar power plant. Given Hanwha's strength in renewable energy supply, the entry into the U.S. data center market is expected to create significant synergy effects.
