[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Vietnam Airlines, which waited more than five hours with passengers on board in preparation for re-takeoff, was fined.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 23rd that it has decided to impose fines of 25 million won and 10 million won on Vietnam Airlines and Aeromongolia, respectively. The administrative disposition was finalized after the airline's opinion was heard after notifying each airline of the results of the deliberation by the Administrative disposition review committee on the 18th. The administrative disposition review committee consists of seven internal and external experts, including the chairman of the aviation policy bureau, lawyers and aviation experts.

Vietnam Airlines returned to Incheon International Airport on July 14 due to musical instruments such as strong winds and heavy rains during its Hanoi-Gimhae flight. Later, in preparation for re-takeoff, passengers were allowed to wait indefinitely for five hours and 18 minutes in the mobile area while on board the aircraft. This is a violation of the Aviation Business Act, which states that passengers should not wait more than four hours on board the aircraft.

Meanwhile, Aeromongolia was fined on July 1 for launching the Ulaanbaatar-Incheon route without approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. This also violates Article 60 of the Aviation Business Act. Domestic and foreign airlines must determine fares and charges and obtain approval from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport or report them to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
