[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Naver Pay has partnered with China's largest platforms Alipayplus and UnionPay to enter the Chinese payment market.

According to Naver Financial, which operates Naver Pay on the 31st, the company is discussing a payment alliance with Alipay Plus and UnionPay with the aim of launching the service within the year. Alipay Plus and UnionPay are Paysa with about 59 million franchises in China. If Naver Financial joins hands with the two companies, most of China's franchises can support Naver Pay payments.

Domestic pay companies such as Kakao Pay generally enter the market in partnership with overseas pay companies. If you directly enter the overseas market, you will have to go through complicated procedures such as recruiting franchises and building infrastructure, but if you enter through partnership, you can embrace overseas pay companies' affiliates.

Naver Financial is expected to end its contract with its existing affiliate Line Pay before signing a new alliance. Line Pay is a pay specialized in the Japanese market, which is less versatile than Alipayplus and UnionPay. In fact, Alipay Plus and UnionPay are expanding their franchises not only in China but also in Japan. Alipay Plus has more than 1 million Japanese franchises and UnionPay has also entered Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
