[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A fire broke out at Kia's Hwaseong plant and some facilities were shut down.

According to industry sources, smoke broke out at 7:28 p.m. yesterday (28th) at the painting line facility on the second floor of Kia Autoland Hwaseong Plant 3 in Ujeong-eup, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

No casualties were reported, but eight robots installed on the painting process line were broken.

Kia's labor union's Hwaseong branch has issued an emergency exit notice for workers at the third plant as of 11:20 a.m. for the safety of workers.

It will take some time before the line where the fire broke out and the workers return to work.

Models such as the K5, K8, and EV6 are being produced on the line where the fire broke out.
