[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Seoul, September 19 – Gold Medalist, the management agency representing actor Kim Soo-hyun, issued an official statement addressing recent media reports questioning the company’s settlement payments and corporate structure.

On September 19, a current affairs outlet alleged that Gold Medalist’s total settlement payments to its artists amounted to only KRW 670 million from 2020 to 2024, significantly lower than typical industry standards. The report also raised concerns over the legitimacy of Barun No. 2 Investment Association, the company’s largest shareholder, noting that it was not physically operating at its registered business address.

In response, Gold Medalist clarified:

“We believe it is necessary to correct the facts and share relevant information,” the agency said.

The company further explained regarding accounting practices:

“Listed companies follow International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), while unlisted companies like ours comply with Korean Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (K-GAAP). Comparing the two is inappropriate. Under K-GAAP, settlement payments to actors are included as cost of sales. Therefore, our accounting practices are fully compliant and present no issues.”
