[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] A T'way Air flight bound for Incheon from Singapore had to return shortly after takeoff due to a required safety check.

On August 11, T'way Air announced that Flight TW172, an A330-300 aircraft, took off from Singapore Changi Airport at 2:15 a.m. local time but returned to the airport 55 minutes later after a safety issue was identified. The flight had 285 passengers on board.

As the aircraft could not immediately resume operations, T'way Air sent a replacement aircraft from Korea. The replacement flight is expected to depart from Changi Airport around 11 p.m. that night, resulting in a nearly 21-hour delay.

T'way Air has arranged for passengers to stay at a nearby hotel and has apologized for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected situation. The airline also stated that it will provide compensation to passengers according to its policies.
