[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] On the 3rd, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that staphylococcus aureus, a food poisoning bacterium, was detected in some Orion "Custard", and Orion recalled about 92% of the product.

"92% of the problematic Custard products produced on December 22, 2023 have been recovered from the market," Orion said. "As a result of self-examination of products produced from December 18, 2023 to January 3, 2024, no bacteria were detected."

To prevent this from happening, Orion explained, "We will conduct quality checks by external authorized agencies every day and release Custard products that have already been produced or will be released in the future."

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety ordered the recall of food poisoning bacteria in Castard, which was manufactured and sold at Orion's fourth Cheongju plant (Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province) with an expiration date of 2024.6.21.

Orion said, "We are investigating the cause under the supervision of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, but it has not been clarified yet," adding, "We will do our best to find out the cause."
