[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics' labor union demanded an 8% wage increase this year.

According to the industry on the 17th, Samsung Electronics Labor Union (Jeonsamno), the representative labor union of Samsung Electronics, and the management held the first round of negotiations on wages and collective bargaining in 2024.

Jeonsamno asked the management for a basic increase rate (base-up) of 8.1%.

The figure was based on a survey of employees, not only union members but also non-union members, the union said. "It's the level employees want."

Last year, the labor-management council decided to raise wages by 4.1%.

The wage increase rate of Samsung Electronics is divided into the common basic increase rate, and the performance increase rate based on the position and individual performance.
