[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] POSCO Future M will further expand its cathode material business by producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials, reviewing joint ventures related to cathode material intermediate material precursors, and investing in additional high-nickel cathode material manufacturing facilities. In particular, in the case of LFP cathode materials, it plans to produce 150,000 tons by 2030.

POSCO Future M announced this by introducing the 'Energy Materials 2030 Roadmap' in the 2nd quarter performance announcement on the 24th.

According to the roadmap, POSCO Future M plans to produce 20,000 tons of LFP cathode materials in 2025 and 2026, and then increase production to 150,000 tons in 2030. This is the first time that POSCO Future M has officially announced the production scale of LFP cathode materials. LFP cathode material production facilities are expected to be located in Korea.

It also revealed its position regarding the precursor joint venture (JV). According to POSCO Future M, the company is currently promoting related JVs such as China's Huayou Cobalt and CNGR. Through this, it is a position that it can stably receive precursor-related raw materials.
