[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Environmental hormones were detected above the standard level in a set of children's dolls sold at Daiso, a flat-priced household goods store, and were recalled.

Asung HPM, which runs Daiso, said in a notice on the 15th that it will provide a refund to customers after legal standards were found to be inadequate in Lina's makeup play products.

This product is a set of dolls and dressing table models and is sold for 5,000 won. Phthalate plasticizer exceeded the standard level (0.1% or less) and 0.64% was detected in the face of the doll.

Phthalate plasticizers are a type of environmental hormone that can cause endocrine disruptors. It is a substance that is added to make hard plastic soft.

Daiso plans to refund 5,000 won in sales if a customer visits the store with the product by January 11 next year. Refunds are possible even after the recall period, and refunds will be made regardless of the date of manufacture, time of purchase, whether they are used or not.

Earlier in October, Daiso also recalled two bathroom products after lead and phthalate plasticizers were detected above the standard level.
