[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics and Hanwha will cooperate to produce high-tech semiconductors.

The artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor of Hanwha subsidiary VisionNext will be mass-produced at Samsung Electronics' foundry process.

According to the industry on the 6th, Samsung Electronics is planning to mass-produce Vision Next AI semiconductor in a 4-nano process. We plan to start mass production as early as the first half of next year.

4nm is a state-of-the-art process that can implement high-performance semiconductors. When Google made a smartphone processor (AP), it used Samsung's 4nm process, and AI semiconductor companies Groc and Tenstorrent also decided to use Samsung's 4nm process. Based on stabilization of yield, it has become a core process of Samsung Foundry. The yield of 4nm is known to be over 75%.

Vision Next is Hanwha's semiconductor development company (fables). We are developing semiconductors specialized in vision AI. It is a semiconductor that analyzes images and images collected from intelligent closed circuit cameras (CCTVs), and attention is being paid to the use of the 4nm process. So far, the 4nm process has been used to produce high-performance semiconductors such as high-performance computing (HPC) and autonomous vehicles. Vision Next is believed to have joined hands with Samsung Electronics to implement unprecedented vision AI semiconductors.

An official of Samsung Electronics said, "We can not confirm the details of the customer."
