[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong met with Chen Min'er Tianjin City Secretary, one of the leading aides to Chinese President Xi Jinping, and also attended the "China Development High-Level Forum."
According to Samsung Electronics, Chairman Lee, who is visiting China for the first time in three years, met with Chen Min'er on the 24th. The meeting was attended by Samsung officials, including Choi Joo-sun, president of Samsung Display, Jang Duk-hyun, president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Yang Gul, president of Samsung Electronics' Chinese Strategic Cooperation Department.
Tenjin is home to Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Multi-Layer Ceramic Condenser (MLCC) and camera module production plant, and Samsung Display's Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) module production plant for smartphones. Samsung SDI produces secondary batteries used in smart devices and electric vehicles in Tianjin, China.
On the 25th, Chairman Lee attended the China Development High-Level Forum, which was held in Diaoyutai, Beijing, China under the theme of "Economic Recovery: Opportunities and Cooperation."
The development forum, which runs through the 27th, is said to be attended by some 100 high-ranking officials from global companies, including Chairman Lee, who has visited China to inspect the business site for the first time in three years, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, and Qualcomm CEO, officials from the central government of China, heads of state-owned companies and financial institutions, and renowned domestic and foreign scholars.
