[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] With Netflix imposing additional charges on account sharing in each country, a survey shows the possibility of a large number of viewers leaving if such a policy is introduced in Korea.
According to a survey of Netflix users in their 20s and 50s conducted by the Media Research Center of the Korea Press Promotion Foundation on the 9th, 62.8% of Netflix viewers (cost-sharing viewers) who share accounts and share subscription fees said they would stop using Netflix if users with different places of residence are banned from sharing their accounts.
Among the cost-sharing viewers, 7.7% said they would share additional charges and continue to watch Netflix, and only 6.4% said they would create new accounts and join Netflix.
For users who pay subscription fees alone, 35.5% said they would continue to use the account if it was banned, while 33.0% said they would withdraw. 14.8% said they would stop sharing the account, and 8.9% said they would continue to share the account with an additional fee.
When asked what they thought the number of Netflix subscribers would change if account sharing was banned, 78.7% of the respondents predicted that the number would decrease and predicted that only 6.0% would increase.
