[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Another embezzlement accident broke out at Woori Bank, where about 70 billion won worth of embezzlement occurred last year.

According to Woori Bank on the 11th, an employee A who worked at a branch in a non-capital area was caught embezzling $70,000 (about 90 million won).

In an internal inspection last month, Woori Bank confirmed that A stole money from the branch safe from mid-May to early June for the purpose of investing in virtual assets.

"After conducting an internal inspection after detecting abnormal transactions, we confirmed the embezzlement, and there is no damage to customers because the money was stolen from the property. Currently, the entire amount has been recovered," a Woori Bank official said. Woori Bank will dismiss Mr. A and file criminal charges.

Earlier last year, Woori Bank was found to have embezzled about KRW 70 billion by its headquarters staff.
