Coupang said on the 26th, "It is not true that it unilaterally stopped supplying to global companies or that negotiations broke down." "Unit price negotiations between the distribution industry and suppliers are daily business activities, and we are negotiating unit prices with suppliers to sell them at the lowest price to consumers in the era of high prices," Coupang said.
"In particular, Unilever, a global household goods company, have raised prices by up to 10% for some products since last year, but they have been doing their best to prevent suppliers' price hikes from being passed on to consumers," he said. "Unilever and Coupang are positively pushing for business expansion."
Johnson & Johnson Korea also refuted allegations that it has suspended the delivery of some of its products as negotiations on delivery prices with Coupang broke down.
Meanwhile, there are increasing cases of conflict over the price of Coupang's direct purchase products. Coupang has been confronting CJ CheilJedang over delivery prices for eight months since it stopped ordering products such as Hetbahn and Bibigo in November last year.
