[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Harim said on the 18th that it will increase the supply of chickens to ensure stable growth and balance supply and demand in the meat industry.

"We are planning to import 300,000 eggs every week from the U.S. from late August," Harim said. "We plan to import a total of 2.4 million eggs for eight weeks and supply them to breeding contract farmers."

Considering that it usually takes at least 55 days to import eggs and ship them to the broiler, it is expected that the stock will be supplied in October.

Harim's increase in chicken supply is aimed at resolving the sharp rise in chicken prices due to a lack of chicken supply in the first half of the year, which adversely affected consumer prices.

Chicken supply decreased as 5.15 million chickens and eggs were killed nationwide due to avian influenza earlier this year, and productivity decreased due to abnormal temperatures.
