[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, June 19 – The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that starting June 28, the base fare for subway rides in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Korail-operated lines will increase by KRW 150, from KRW 1,400 to KRW 1,550.

This fare adjustment applies across the entire Seoul Metropolitan Subway system. Youth and child fares will also see modest increases, reflecting the current discount rates of approximately 42% and 65%, respectively.

Youth (Card): KRW 800 → KRW 900

Youth (Cash): KRW 1,500 → KRW 1,650

Child (Card/Cash): KRW 500 → KRW 550

Early bird discount fares:

Adults: KRW 1,120 → KRW 1,240

Youth: KRW 640 → KRW 720

Children: KRW 400 → KRW 440

This is the second phase of a planned two-step fare hike totaling KRW 300, following the first increase in October 2023. The decision was made through public hearings, Seoul City Council consultations, and a price policy review committee, with final agreement reached in coordination with Incheon and Gyeonggi authorities.
