[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Homeplus broke the reverse growth link for the first time in 12 years. Analysts say that Lee Je-hoon, president of Homeplus, worked on his strategy to improve his constitution.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on the 9th, Homeplus saw its sales reach 6.6 trillion won in the fiscal year 2022 (March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023), up 119.9 billion won (about 1.9%) from a year earlier. The operating loss was KRW 260.2 billion, a widening deficit from the previous year (KRW 126.6 billion).

Loans fell 138.1 billion won year-on-year to 1.2968 trillion won during the period.

However, the deficit has widened due to increased investment costs. Homeplus spent a total of 190 billion won to improve its constitution, including 100 billion won last year to revamp the mega-food market, 50 billion won to expand online delivery and 20 billion won in TV advertising to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

In fact, the Gangseo branch, a megafood market store, is driving first-quarter earnings improvement, with sales rising up to 75% year-on-year after the reorganization.
