[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] An employee of a subcontractor in his 50s crashed and died at Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Steel Mill in South Chungcheong Province. Employment authorities are investigating whether he violated the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 7th, a worker from a subcontractor fell from a railing about 10m height and died at Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Steel Mill at 9:30 a.m. on the 6th. At that time, Mr. A was working on improving the railing of the raw material factory.

After confirming the accident, the Ministry of Labor immediately dispatched a labor supervisor to the scene and ordered the suspension of work. Since then, it has begun investigating the cause of the accident, violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Severe Accident Punishment Act.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Steel Mill also suffered an accident in March last year in which a worker in his 50s fell and died while working.
