[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kakao Mobility will lower the actual fee from 3 to 5 percent of its taxi driver sales to 2.8 percent. Instead of lowering the initial cost burden for joining the franchise, taxi operators have come up with a plan to make additional profits by increasing taxi-related advertising products.

Kakao Mobility announced on November 14 that it has prepared a reorganization plan based on industry opinions collected at a meeting with the taxi industry since November.

Kakao Mobility and the taxi industry agreed to launch a new franchise taxi service that simplifies the franchise taxi service and reduces the fee burden on operators. The continued membership fee for the new franchise taxi service was agreed at 2.8%.

The new franchise service greatly minimizes the initial cost burden on operators for joining the membership, such as vehicle wrapping and education. In addition, the company plans to commercialize the exterior of taxis to have a structure that allows taxi operators and workers to earn additional profits.
