[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] In the final primary for the Democratic Party’s next leader, candidate Lee Jae-myung secured a decisive victory in Seoul with a vote share of 92.43% on August 17.

Lee’s overwhelming win in the primary held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul cements his position for re-election. He consistently achieved vote shares in the 80-90% range across 17 regional primaries, beginning in Jeju on July 20 and concluding in Seoul.

In the online voting among party members overseas, Lee received 99.18% of the votes, while Kim Du-kwan garnered 0.82% and Kim Ji-soo received none.

The results of the Supreme Council member primary in Seoul are as follows: Kim Min-seok (20.88%), Jeon Hyun-hee (17.40%), Kim Byung-joo (15.34%), Han Joon-ho (14.25%), Lee Eon-joo (10.90%), Jeong Bong-ju (8.61%), Min Hyung-bae (7.48%), and Kang Sun-woo (5.13%). Jeong Bong-ju, who led the early race, fell to sixth place, likely due to backlash from strong party members against his recent comments.
