Hanwha Ocean wins 1 trillion won order for 3,600-ton submarine

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Ocean has won a project to build a 3,600-ton "Jangbogo-III" submarine.

According to industries and others on the 6th, Hanwha Ocean was selected as the preferred bidder in the bidding for the Batch-II, the second-generation of the 3,600-ton Jangbogo-III submarine ordered by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration late last month.

The business size is about 1 trillion won. The industry expects Hanwha Ocean to sign the main bid with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration as early as the end of this year after further negotiations.

The deployment of Jangbogo-Ⅲ Ⅱ is a medium-sized submarine built after the previous model, the first generation (batch-Ⅰ) 'Dosan Ahn Chang-ho'.

Previously, Hanwha Ocean has also won orders for the first and second ships of Jangbogo-III deployment-II and is currently under construction.
