[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics, which is reducing memory production and raising prices, has set up a strategy to raise NAND prices by 20% every quarter until the second quarter of next year.

According to the semiconductor industry on the 1st, Samsung Electronics has decided to raise NAND prices by 10-20% in the fourth quarter of this year and raise prices by 20% in the first and second quarters of next year, respectively.

NAND is the two pillars of memory semiconductors along with DRAM, accounting for about half of Samsung Electronics' memory semiconductor sales. However, unlike DRAM, which has recently been detected to recover prices, NAND prices remain low.

As the recovery of NAND prices is essential to recover profitability, Samsung Electronics plans to cut production and aggressively raise prices. After offering higher prices to NAND customers in the fourth quarter of this year, the company will raise prices one after another in the first and second quarters of next year to speed up price normalization.

Samsung Electronics announced an aggressive production plan to expand HBM production by more than 2.5 times next year in line with the surge in demand for generative artificial intelligence (AI).
