[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung C&T announced its shareholder return policy and new investment plan on the 16th. On this day, Samsung C&T limited its new dividend resources to dividend income received from Samsung Electronics and other affiliates in its shareholder return policy.
Instead, we decided to focus on 'investing' with the profits generated from the business. Samsung C&T expects these investments to reach KRW 3 trillion to KRW 4 trillion over the next three years. It is worth between 7 trillion won and 8 trillion won on a consolidated basis, including subsidiaries.
First of all, it will invest 1.5 trillion won to 2 trillion won in upgrading and digitizing services in the existing business sector. In addition, the government has decided to spend the remaining 1.5 trillion won to 2 trillion won on eco-friendly energy businesses and bio and healthcare businesses.
On this day, Samsung C&T decided to incinerate all of its remaining treasury stocks of about 3 trillion won to enhance shareholder value.
The decision expects Samsung C&T to enhance shareholder value and secure new growth engines, an industry source said. "It will serve as an opportunity to dispel claims of an unfair merger, one of the core of the trial."
