[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samyang Foods announced on the 16th that the Danish government lifted the recall on two of its Buldak Bokkeum Myeon products as of the 15th (local time).

The products with the recall lifted are the "Nuclear Buldak Bokkeum Myeon 2x Spicy" and "Buldak Bokkeum Tangmyeon." However, the recall on the "Nuclear Buldak Bokkeum Myeon 3x Spicy," the spiciest variant, remains in effect, continuing the sales ban.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) had decided to recall three types of Buldak Bokkeum Myeon on June 11, citing excessively high capsaicin content. Following Denmark's recall decision, major global media outlets such as BBC, AP, AFP, The Washington Post, and The Guardian reported on the matter.

Samyang Foods submitted a rebuttal opinion, stating that there was an error in the DVFA's capsaicin measurement method. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea collaborated with Samyang Foods to explore response strategies and sent an official letter to the DVFA. Additionally, on June 30, a field response team composed of director-level officials was dispatched to Denmark to prompt a re-evaluation of the Buldak Bokkeum Myeon products. The DVFA explained the recall lift in an official letter to the MFDS, and the products with lifted recalls were immediately resumed for sale locally, according to Samyang Foods.
