[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kolon Industries, a major subsidiary of Kolon Group, is planning to sell its film business.

According to Maeil Business Newspaper on the 4th, Kolon Industries is considering selling its film business and is negotiating with candidates such as Hahn & Company, a large domestic private equity fund (PEF). The sale price is said to be hundreds of billions of won.

Kolon Industries has produced a wide range of films, ranging from films for electronic display to packaging films. In particular, after successfully mass-producing transparent polyamide (CPI) for the first time in the world in 2019, it has been providing products such as CPI for foldable phones to the Chinese market.

In fact, Kolon Industries' film and electronic materials division also posted an operating loss of 17.7 billion won in the third quarter of last year, continuing its deficit trend since the second quarter of 2022. However, the deficit, which rose to 43.1 billion won in the fourth quarter of 2022 by adjusting the utilization rate, has decreased for three consecutive quarters.
