[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha is planning to acquire HSD Engine, a ship engine company, following Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
Through this, the company intends to strengthen its global competitiveness in the shipbuilding sector by establishing a value chain (value chain) from ship construction to engine manufacturing.
Hanwha Impact announced on the 16th that it has signed an MOU to acquire a 33% (226.9 billion won) stake in HSD Engine.
According to MOU, HSD Engine will participate in the third-party allocation paid-in capital increase to acquire 14% of new shares and purchase 19% of old shares.
HSD Engine is one of the world's leading ship engine producers and has the technology and manufacturing capacity to produce eco-friendly equipment and power generation facilities.
Hanwha Impact plans to proactively respond to international decarbonization regulations, including the production of dual fuel engines, by adding the manufacturing capacity of HSD engines to eco-friendly power generation technologies such as hydrogen mixed gas turbines.
Once the acquisition of the HSD engine is completed following Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Hanwha will be able to provide its own "total ship manufacturing solution" from ship construction to engine manufacturing.
