[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 23rd that it had filed an indemnity lawsuit against Korea Gas Corporation, claiming 390 billion won. The reason for the lawsuit is that the operation of Samsung Heavy Industries' LNG carrier was halted due to a defect in the LNG cargo hold (KC-1) developed by Korea Gas Corporation, resulting in damage.

Samsung Heavy Industries, a ship manufacturer, delivered two LNG carriers to SK Shipping in March and April 2018. For the first time, an LNG cargo hold developed with domestic technology was installed. This is a cargo hold designed by KOGAS itself, saying, ‘We can no longer rely solely on foreign technology.’

There are also predictions that additional loss costs will be incurred due to the suspension of operations.
