[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Group's intermediate holding company, SKC, is set to sell SK Nexilis’s flexible copper-clad laminate (FCCL) division to private equity firm Affirma Capital, with the deal reportedly valued in the range of 100 billion KRW.

According to investment banking industry sources on the 29th, SK Nexilis, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SKC, is in negotiations to transfer its FCCL business unit to Affirma Capital. The stock purchase agreement (SPA) could be signed as early as next month, with the transaction price under discussion around the 100 billion KRW mark.

FCCL, often referred to as a thin film, is a flexible copper-clad laminate used in advanced electronics such as AI, 5G, and smartphones. It is a key material for flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) and also has applications as a core material in replacing wiring harnesses in electric vehicle battery packs and other automotive components.

While the FCCL business unit does not generate large revenue, it is notably profitable. The division's annual revenue ranges from 50 to 60 billion KRW, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) close to 10 billion KRW.
