[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Apple has introduced an AI-powered service called "Apple Intelligence," which brings various new features, including call recording, a highly anticipated function for iPhone users in South Korea. Released on October 28 (local time) as part of the iOS 18.1 update, Apple Intelligence offers features such as message summarization, photo editing, and a virtual assistant experience.

Initially, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 users with iOS 18.1 will be able to access these AI features, currently available only in English. To use them, users need to set their device and Siri's language to "US English." Korean language support is expected around April next year.

Apple Intelligence aims to make the iPhone a more versatile “on-hand assistant.” The AI can, for instance, help prioritize emails by alerting users to important ones like lunch appointments or flight boarding passes.

The new call recording feature can be activated during calls through the phone app, though it includes a disclosure to the other party that recording is in progress.
