[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver eliminated the current five CIC (In-house Independent Company) organizations and subdivided them into 12 specialized organizations through reorganization on the 3rd. The goal is to increase the company's core businesses such as artificial intelligence (AI) and shopping through large-scale reorganization in more than nine years.

Through the reorganization, Naver will segment and specialize advertising, shopping and local business expertise, which are key areas of the Internet industry, to be sensitive to market trends and proactively explore new business opportunities.

It also provides users with a differentiated experience based on Naver's core technology functions such as AI, data, and search, and the product & platform area that will create long-term technological growth serves as the company's new technology innovation engine.

CIC refers to an organization that has the functions necessary for independent company operation within the company, from business planning to finance and personnel. Naver's goal is to eliminate this CIC again and operate a horizontal organizational system so that changes can be made in each professional organization.

In addition, Naver explains that the reorganization focuses on introducing AI to all technologies in-house in line with AI technology trends and strengthening capabilities in business areas such as advertising, shopping and regions.

Meanwhile, it will also strengthen its governance function, which will be the focal point for large-scale innovation projects that can drive Naver's growth. Naver will establish three committees at the level of Team Naver, including global management, product & tech, and employee growth, under the direct control of CEO Choi Soo-yeon to promote synergy among each sector.

Naver's reorganization will be carried out later this month, followed by detailed reorganization.
