Subcontractor Killed in Trailer Accident at Dongkuk Steel Plant in Pohang

[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] POHANG, South Korea – October 22, 2025 – A subcontracted worker was killed in an industrial accident at Dongkuk Steel’s Pohang plant on Tuesday afternoon, according to local police and fire authorities.


The accident occurred around 1:40 p.m. at the company’s steel manufacturing facility in Daesong-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang, when the worker, identified only as Mr. A, was run over by a reversing trailer inside the plant. The worker died instantly at the scene, authorities confirmed.


Police and fire officials are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including whether safety protocols were properly followed and if negligence by the vehicle operator or subcontracting firm was involved.
