[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Coupang Eats has launched an "unlimited free delivery" service for Coupang Wow members since the 26th.
Wow members can choose between free delivery and premium service 'one house delivery'. Coupang Eats free delivery optimizes the delivery route considering the estimated arrival time and delivers it quickly to the customer. Wow membership benefits are available in the metropolitan area and metropolitan cities as well as in major parts of the country.
The company expects the trend of transferring delivery applications (apps) to Coupang Eats to accelerate with free delivery benefits. For families who order delivery twice a week (based on delivery fee of 3,500 won), it is calculated that they can save about 340,000 won in delivery cost in a year.
On the same day, Woowa Brothers, which runs Baemin, started an event to cut prices of major food materials such as garlic and rice by 16 to 30 percent for self-employed people. It sells 5kg of peeled garlic, which is 65,900 won, for 44,900 won (about 31.9% discount) and a bag of rice, which is 55,000 won, for 44,990 won (18.2% discount).
It is a plan to respond to the Coupang Eats offensive by attracting more restaurants into the delivery app and expanding customer choice. Yogiyo, which competes with Coupangitz for second place in the delivery market, has been providing free delivery services to customers who have subscribed to the 4,900 won monthly membership "Yogi Pass X" since November last year.
