[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Korea Communications Commission has again issued corrective orders to SBS and Kakao for violating the law banning the ownership of broadcasting advertising sales agencies (Media Lab).

The Korea Communications Commission held its 16th committee meeting at the Gwacheon Government Complex on the 27th to vote on a corrective order to SBS and Kakao to improve the restriction on the ownership of advertising agents.

SBS pointed out that the parent company owns 40% of media rep, SBS M & C stock, even after May 1, 2022, when the parent company was designated as a large company with assets of more than 10 trillion won.

SBS explained that Taeyoung E&C is undergoing a workout process and that it may be lifted from the mutual investment-restricted corporate group, which is the current standard of 10 trillion won, but it will receive a correction order due to continued violation.

Earlier, SBS received the same correction order in September 2022 and July 2023.

In the case of Kakao, it owns 10% of SBS M & C shares, and since it is related to SM Culture & Content (SM C & C), an advertising agency, it was caught for violating the restriction on the ownership of the advertising agency. This is the second corrective order since July 2023.
