[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, South Korea – October 21, 2025 – Kim Young-sub, Chief Executive Officer of KT Corp., said he would “take appropriate responsibility, including possible resignation,” following a recent hacking incident that led to unauthorized micro-payment transactions involving KT customers.

During a National Assembly hearing of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on Tuesday, Kim made the remarks in response to questions regarding the company’s handling of the security breach and allegations that KT had submitted incomplete or misleading information about the case.

When asked by Rep. Lee Ju-hee of the Democratic Party of Korea whether he intended to step down, Kim replied,

“It is only right to take appropriate responsibility after the situation is fully resolved.”

Rep. Lee further questioned whether KT would waive SIM card replacement fees for all customers, citing the possibility that personal data of KT’s entire user base may have been compromised.

Kim responded that the company would “review the matter carefully after analyzing the investigation results and assessing the extent of customer impact,” adding that any compensation measures would be determined accordingly.
