[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) is reportedly under a special tax investigation by South Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS).
According to industry sources, on December 16, approximately 100 officers from the NTS’ Seoul Regional Tax Office, Investigation Division 4, were dispatched to Hyundai E&C’s headquarters in Gye-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to conduct the investigation.
Investigation Division 4 is a specialized unit responsible for examining cases where there is a clear suspicion of slush funds or tax evasion.
The specific reasons for the current tax investigation have not been disclosed.
