[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The Consumer Dispute Resolution Committee under the Korea Consumer Agency announced on May 21 that it has decided to commence a collective dispute resolution procedure concerning the air conditioning defects found in the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron 40 model imported and sold by Volkswagen Group Korea.

Consumers affected by the defect in the vehicle’s air conditioning system have demanded free repairs and other remedies. The committee determined that the number of affected consumers exceeds 50, and that the key factual and legal issues are substantially identical, meeting the criteria for initiating a collective dispute resolution.

The committee plans to announce the commencement of the procedure by June 13 through the Korea Consumer Agency’s website and daily newspapers. To expedite the process, no additional participation applications will be accepted. However, if the company agrees to the resolution, consumers who did not participate in the procedure may still be eligible for compensation.
