[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver announced on the 7th that it has signed a business agreement with Saudi Arabia's Public Transportation Corporation (SAPTCO) (Saudi Public Transport Company) to build an intelligent transportation system.

Under the agreement, Naver has agreed to use advanced technologies such as a cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and a digital twin (technology that implements the real world in a virtual world in a computer) to build a digital twin-based vehicle HD map and a simulated traffic environment in Saudi Arabia.

Naver explained that digital twin-based traffic situation simulation is essential for data-based effective decision-making as the recent expansion of large-scale infrastructure and housing complexes have increased traffic congestion in the city.

In addition, the two companies are discussing ways to build a separate 'Sovereign cloud' for SAPTCO's intelligent transportation system and utilize AI-based intelligent CCTV.

Naver said that the use of intelligent CCTV is widely discussed from passenger and driver recognition to face recognition fee payment through Naver's 'CLOVA Vision'.
