[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] KT announced on the 21st that it has developed artificial intelligence (AI) technology that reduces power consumed in the process of providing telecommunication services.

There are three AI technologies: 'AI TEMS' (Temperature of Equipment Management System), energy-saving Orchestrator and server power supply optimization solution.

AI TEMS is a system that efficiently manages the temperature of the communication room where communication equipment is managed. Previously, for stable service, the same temperature standard had to be set for all communication rooms and the cooling system had to be operated to the maximum.

Introducing this technology, AI collects and analyzes the characteristics of the equipment and temperature information by location to automatically set the appropriate temperature of the communication room and optimally operate the cooling system. KT explained that it improved cooling system efficiency by 24% by applying AI TEMS to four communication rooms on a trial basis.

Energy-saving Orchestrator is a technology in which AI automatically controls the radio wave output of base stations. It analyzes traffic from base stations to help provide wireless services with radio waves that can produce optimal energy efficiency. It has been introduced to some 5G base stations on a trial basis since this month.

The server power supply optimization solution automatically analyzes the load of the central processing unit (CPU) of various servers to provide optimal power.
