Embezzlement Case Uncovered at Shinhan Bank Vietnam Branch

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, Aug. 21 — Shinhan Bank has disclosed an embezzlement case involving a locally hired employee at its Vietnam subsidiary, with losses totaling approximately 3.75 billion won (US$27 million).



According to a regulatory filing on August 21, the bank confirmed that the employee at Shinhan Vietnam Bank had committed embezzlement amounting to 3.7488 billion won. The misconduct occurred between March 2023 and July 2024.



A Shinhan Bank official said the irregularities were detected during an internal audit conducted by the bank’s local compliance department.
