[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, August 26, 2025 — Shares of Monami, a leading Korean stationery brand, hit the upper daily price limit on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump praised President Lee Jae-myung’s signature pen during the Korea-U.S. summit.

According to the Korea Exchange, Monami closed at KRW 2,575, up 29.92% from the previous session.

On August 25 (local time), just before the bilateral summit at the White House, President Trump remarked “nice pen” when President Lee signed the guest book. In response, President Lee presented the pen as a gift to President Trump.

The pen, described as a thick, brown-toned writing instrument, was custom-made by Korean artisan fountain pen maker Zenail. Every Zenail product is handcrafted, and President Lee’s signature pen was specially produced over a two-month period at the request of the presidential office, making it a one-of-a-kind piece.

Notably, the nib of the pen was adapted from a Monami name pen, refined for ceremonial signatures.

Market analysts said the event spotlighted the competitiveness of Korean pen makers, driving strong investor interest in Monami.
