[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] KT Corporation announced a bold initiative to invest more than KRW 1 trillion (approximately USD 720 million) over the next five years to overhaul its company-wide information security systems. The initiative aims to build a next-generation AI-powered cybersecurity framework through global partnerships and the recruitment of world-class security experts.

During its "KT Customer Safety & Assurance Briefing" held on July 15 in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, the company outlined four core pillars of its cybersecurity innovation plan:

Strengthening AI Monitoring Systems

Expanding Global Collaborations and Security Consultations

Establishing a Zero Trust Architecture

Increasing Dedicated Cybersecurity Personnel

KT also revealed plans to commercialize the industry's first AI-powered anti-voice phishing service, KT AI Voice Phishing Detection 2.0, later this year, pending approval from the Personal Information Protection Commission. Developed in cooperation with the National Forensic Service, the system uses AI trained on more than 25,000 cases of voice phishing calls to analyze context in real-time and issue alerts when fraudulent activity is suspected—particularly against increasingly sophisticated deepfake voice scams.

In addition, KT will more than double its DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) defense capacity within the year through its Clean Zone service. The company also plans to launch a real-time DDoS monitoring dashboard next month, offering customers better visibility into threats and mitigation.

Lee Hyun-seok, Vice President and Head of KT’s Customer Division, stated,

"KT is committed to setting a new global standard for proactive cybersecurity."

This large-scale investment underscores KT's ambition to become a global leader in digital safety, especially as cyber threats continue to evolve in complexity and scale.
