[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] TCK announced on the 22nd that it won a patent infringement and damages lawsuit against YMC and Waikeom.

On the same day, the 62nd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled that YMC and Waikeom had infringed upon TCK's patents in a lawsuit filed by TCK on December 30, 2020.

The lawsuit centered around the infringement of TCK's patent for silicon carbide (SiC) rings. The court ruled that the patents in question covered the structure that enhances the plasma resistance of SiC rings and the improvement of the material properties of SiC ring materials. The court determined that YMC and Waikeom had been violating these patents while operating a SiC ring regeneration business.

As a result of TCK's victory, YMC and Waikeom are now prohibited from continuing their SiC ring regeneration activities that infringe on TCK's patents and will be required to compensate for damages resulting from the infringement.

In addition to this lawsuit, YMC and Waikeom had been challenging the validity of TCK's patent since 2022. However, both the Patent Court and the Supreme Court have ruled in favor of TCK, confirming the validity of its patent.

TCK has also been pursuing a patent infringement lawsuit against DS Techno over SiC rings since September 2019.
